Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Missing key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the last 16, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
